Draft notice

This privacy policy is a draft prepared by the site owner. Before this site is launched publicly to collect any personal data (email addresses, form submissions, etc.), this policy will be reviewed by an attorney qualified in your jurisdiction (Australia + applicable international laws).

Until then, no live email signup forms, no live contact forms, and no tracking pixels are active on this site.

1. Who we are

Lantern Path Books is an independent publishing imprint operated by Andrew Roache, based in Australia. References below to "we" or "Lantern Path Books" refer to this single operator.

2. What we collect

When email signup forms become active, we may collect:

  • Your email address (required to deliver requested content)
  • Your first name (optional; used for personalization)
  • The page you signed up from (so we know which lead magnet you requested)
  • Your date and IP at signup (for consent record-keeping under GDPR)

We do not currently collect website analytics. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics after launch to understand basic site traffic without cookies or ad tracking. Cloudflare Web Analytics is server-side and does not set any cookies, does not fingerprint visitors, and does not feed advertising profiles. If we later add a different analytics product that uses cookies, we will update this policy and display a consent banner before any tracking activates.

3. How we use your information

Email addresses are used to:

  • Deliver the free printable or content you requested
  • Send the welcome sequence (5 emails over 14 days)
  • Send occasional updates about Lantern Path Books (about once a month)

We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade your information with any third party for marketing purposes.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

If you are in the EU or UK, we rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a)) to send you marketing emails. You provide consent via a double-opt-in process: you fill in a form, then click a confirmation link in an email we send.

5. Cookies and tracking

Currently this site does not set tracking cookies. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which may set strictly-necessary cookies for security (e.g., DDoS protection, bot detection). These are not used for marketing or analytics.

We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics after launch to understand basic site traffic without cookies or ad tracking. If we later add a cookie-based analytics product (e.g., Google Analytics), we will display a consent banner and update this policy before any such tracking activates.

6. Third-party services

When the email system becomes active, we will use a reputable email service provider (likely MailerLite) to manage subscribers and deliver emails. That provider will have access to your email address and any other data you provide. They have their own privacy policy and GDPR posture.

7. Data retention

If you are an active subscriber: we retain your data for as long as you remain subscribed.

If you unsubscribe: we retain a minimal record of your email address in our "do-not-contact" list (so we don't accidentally re-add you), but we do not send you further marketing emails. You can request full erasure at any time.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have rights including:

  • The right to access your data
  • The right to correct your data
  • The right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • The right to data portability
  • The right to object to processing
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below.

9. Children's data

Lantern Path Books markets to parents and educators, not to children directly. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in some EU jurisdictions). If we discover we have collected data from a child, we will delete it immediately.

10. International data transfers

If you are outside Australia, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries where our email service provider operates. Those providers commit to appropriate data protection standards.

11. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including HTTPS for site traffic and reputable third-party email providers with their own security commitments. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users if a breach occurs, in line with applicable laws.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. For material changes, we will notify subscribers via email.
